How to Create a Twitch Command Script for Streamlabs Chatbot Part 5: Adding Cooldown and UI Medium

Content (str) – The content you wish to send as a message. This class contains the meta data to help you understand more about the invocation context. This class is not created manually and is instead passed around to commands as the first parameter. Channels (Union[List[str], Tuple[str]]) – The channels in either a list or tuple form to part. The Auto Mod supports you with different functions for your stream. Keep in mind, these are tailored for my own personal use, but can be easily edited for use with commands in any Twitch channel. Commands with simple, text-based responses are grouped together for convenience in commands.js. To set up giveaways in Streamlabs Chatbot, navigate to the “Giveaways” tab in the settings. From there, you can set the entry requirements, duration, and prize for the giveaway.

Project Commands

The OWN3D Pro package includes a chatbot, which allows you to monitor your chat while rewarding your community with giveaways, for example. The following commands are for streamers DJing with Serato using the Live Playlists feature. This is a Node script that you can use to respond to chat commands in your Twitch channel.

To include useful information with the USERNOTICE message, request the tags capability (see Requesting Twitch-specific capabilities). For details about the tags that the USERNOTICE twitch chatbot commands message can include, see Twitch IRC tags. The following example shows a NOTICE message with tags after Twitch removed a message that foo posted to the bar chat room.

Your chatbot becomes your ally in creating an engaging and interactive streaming world. So, go ahead and equip these commands to watch your streaming journey thrive. Use the chat command while the stream is online to see which games have been streamed in the current session. Twitch sends the following Twitch-specific messages to your bot if you request the commands and membership capability.

The restriction also applies to chat commands posted by your Timers. The timer will skip to the next chat command in its rotation if the game you’re playing is different at the time the timer posts. If you’re streaming games with special mods or settings, create a chat command that explains that. Twitch chat commands are essentially just text that can be entered into a chat on any platform that supports the Twitch video game streaming service. This is not about big events, as the name might suggest, but about smaller events during the livestream. For example, if a new user visits your livestream, you can specify that he or she is duly welcomed with a corresponding chat message.

Go to ‘tools’ in the top menu and then you should see something like ‘obswebsocket.settings.dialogtitle’ at the bottom of that menu. Click it and make sure to check ‘obswebsocket.settings.authrequired’. This will allow you to make a custom password (mine is ‘ilikebutts’). Go through the installer process for the streamlabs chatbot first. I am not sure how this works on mac operating systems so good luck. If you are unable to do this alone, you probably shouldn’t be following this tutorial.

As you can see from the example, the USERSTATE message on its own is not very useful. To include useful information with the USERSTATE message, request the tags capability (see Requesting Twitch-specific capabilities). For details about the tags that the USERSTATE message can include, see Twitch IRC tags. As you can see from the examples, the USERNOTICE message on its own is not very useful.

You will need to have Streamlabs read a text file with the command. The text file location will be different for you, however, we have provided an example. Each 8ball response will need to be on a new line in the text file.

In this article we are going to discuss some of the features and functions of StreamingElements. Notifications are an alternative to the classic alerts. You can set up and define these notifications with the Streamlabs chatbot. So you have the possibility to thank the Streamlabs chatbot for a follow, a host, a cheer, a sub or a raid. The chatbot will immediately recognize the corresponding event and the message you set will appear in the chat. Uptime commands are common as a way to show how long the stream has been live.

Additionally, you can set the cooldown for the chat command and choose whether to only allow your viewers to use it while your Twitch stream is offline. Moobot automatically excludes any disabled or unavailable chat commands from the list. EditCommand» chat command lets you and your Twitch mods edit your custom chat commands directly from Twitch chat.

WatchTime username» in Twitch chat to look up the watch time of the username, where the «username» is the Twitch username you want to look up. Each chat command comes with its own unique set of responses and settings, which you can fully adjust to fit the needs of you and your community on Twitch. If a chatbot has reached the rate limits for messages, authentications, or joins; the bot’s developer may request verified bot status. To request verified bot status, go to IRC Command and Message Rate and fill out the form.

chatbot.js Options

This means that the chat command may not post automatically if your Twitch chat is very slow throughout your streaming session. By using aliases, you can create multiple names for your chat commands. That way you don’t have to update the response across multiple duplicate chat commands.

If your connection is dropped, you should try reconnecting using an exponential backoff approach. If you have no luck, try again in 1 second, 2 seconds, 4 seconds, 8 seconds and so on for the number of attempts you want to make. But be aware if you’re making multiple connections that there are rate limits that apply (see Rate limits). To connect to the Twitch IRC server, use one of the following URIs. It uses Last.fm to track the song, and Moobot’s Last.fm integration to display it in Twitch chat. This will display your current level on Apex Legends.

Go ahead and get/keep chatbot opened up as we will need it for the other stuff. This tab is used to view and define chat commands you want Streamer.bot to watch for and the actions each should perform. Setting up the timer so that your OWN3D Pro chatbot automatically posts messages to the chat regularly is not a big hassle. You can use this section to create your sweepstakes for your community and increase interaction in your chat. Set an OWN3D Pro chatbot command for the chat that the viewer must enter.

Although the chatbot works seamlessly with Streamlabs, it is not directly integrated into the main program – therefore two installations are necessary. Streamlabs chatbot is a chatbot software embedded within Streamlabs, which allows streamers or influencers to easily engage with users. Creators can interact with users, hold giveaways, play games, or send out virtually welcome messages. Twitch provides an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) interface that lets chatbots connect to Twitch chat rooms using a WebSocket or TCP connection.

Additionally, the streamer you shoutout will receive a notification directly on Twitch that you shouted them out. The responses to the chat command will vary depending on whether the Twitch streamer is offline, online, or if they have a game set or not. Shoutout username», where the «username» is the Twitch username of the Twitch streamer you want to shout out.

By default, a chat command with response tags cannot be edited with the «! EditCommand» chat command to prevent accidental removal of its response tags. This chat command lets you edit any custom chat command, not just those with a «Text set from chat» response tag. AddCommand» chat command lets you and your Twitch mods create a new custom chat command directly from Twitch chat. You can also allow your viewers to look up the watch time of other viewers by activating the «Allow looking up the watch time of another viewer» checkbox. Anyone will then be able to use the command like «!

Example Chatbot

Move [interval], where interval is an integer in the range 1 through 60 (minutes). If you don’t specify an interval, it uses a default interval. Open “Permissions” and look for “Add an Editor.” Type in the mod’s username. Three must-have timer commands that every streamer needs. To include other useful information with the WHISPER message, request the tags capability (see Requesting Twitch-specific capabilities). Returning None will cause the client to attempt an automatic token generation. Data (str) – The raw NOTICE data received from Twitch. Event called with the raw NOTICE data received by Twitch.

This method is useful for setting up things before command invocation. E.g Database connections or

retrieving tokens for use in the command. Fetches Twitch’s list of chat badges, which users may use in any channel’s chat room. Event called when a USERNOTICE subscription or re-subscription event is received from Twitch.

Your stream viewers are likely to also be interested in the content that you post on other sites. You can have the response either show just the username of that social or contain a direct link to your profile. Streamlabs Chatbot is a chatbot application specifically designed for Twitch streamers.

Streamlabs chatbot allows you to create custom commands to help improve chat engagement and provide information to viewers. Commands have become a staple in the streaming community and are expected in streams. Twitch provides an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) interface that lets chatbots connect to Twitch channels using a WebSocket or TCP connection.

Twitch’s IRC service is based on RFC1459 and IRCv3 Message Tag specification. If you’re not already familiar with them, reading them may help you understand the Twitch IRC server. Just pick the conditions in the «Only send the command when» input. The user only has to classify as one of the user groups to use the command. E.g. a Twitch sub also classifies as a normal user.

From there, you can create, edit, and customize commands according to your requirements. While Streamlabs Chatbot is primarily designed for Twitch, it may have compatibility with other streaming platforms. If Streamlabs Chatbot is not responding to user commands, try the following troubleshooting steps. If you’re having trouble connecting Streamlabs Chatbot to your Twitch account, follow these steps. Give your viewers dynamic responses to recurrent questions or share your promotional links without having to repeat yourself often.

Command/Timer Variables

Moobot can automatically disable or remove a chat command for you. This is useful for commands which contain temporary information. The chat command will not respond if the Twitch user is not following the channel. Command», where «Command» is the chat command’s name, then whoever used the command will be the one Moobot looks up the follow for.

Once the server successfully authenticates your bot, the next step is to send a JOIN message to join the chat room that the bot runs in. For a list of supported messages, see Supported IRC messages. Just pick what user groups you want to allow to use the chat command in the «Only allow these user groups to use the command in chat» input.

Streamlabs chatbot will tag both users in the response. By utilizing Streamlabs Chatbot, streamers can create a more interactive and engaging environment for their viewers. Remind your viewers to follow you, if they haven’t already. It’s good for growth, visibility and especially retention.

The $username option will tag the user that activated the command, whereas $targetname will tag a user that was mentioned when activating the command. Click the “Join Channel” button on your Nightbot dashboard and follow the on-screen instructions to mod Nightbot in your channel.

The currency function of the Streamlabs chatbot at least allows you to create such a currency and make it available to your viewers. The currency can then be collected by your viewers. To create custom commands in Streamlabs Chatbot, head to the “Commands” tab in the software’s settings. Select the “Add New Command” button and enter the name of the command, the message you wish to display, and any other relevant settings you want to configure. A current song command allows viewers to know what song is playing.

Other commands provide useful information to the viewers and help promote the streamer’s content without manual effort. Both types of commands are useful for any growing streamer. It is best to create Streamlabs chatbot commands that suit the streamer, customizing them to match the brand and style of the stream.

This will display the time passed since the current stream started. This will display the channel’s current amount of viewers on Twitch. This will display the current stream title you have set on Twitch. This is the same as the Arguments – All command arguments, but Moobot will URL-encode the arguments so you can use them in a link. The arguments will be empty if you use the chat command with no text. For example, you can show how many deaths you’ve had in a game, or how many times a chat command has been used.

A cooldown can be set for a command set on both a Global and Per-User basis, this prevents the main action being run again while the cooldown is active. It is entirely up to you to decide which OWN3D Pro chatbot commands you want to express to your community. Adding a cooldown for the command itself has a similar flow, simply exchange the user cooldown methods with the command cooldown methods.
